How do you explain Holy Communion to a Catholic child ?
Communion simply represents what Jesus did for us. So, at church, we use unleaven bread  to remind us that His body was broken for us and we drink wine to remember that His blood paid for our sins. We do this to remember His sacrifice for us!

At what age can a child receive Communion?
Most Catholic children receive their First Holy Communion when they are 7 or 8 years old, as this is considered the age of reason. Older people can receive communion for the first time when they have met all the Catholic Church's requirements.
